 Origin
The glycolic acid is an Alpha Hydroxy acid (AHA) made from sugar cane extract, beet or grape extract, recognized for its excellent property to penetrate the skin.
Properties
The ability of AHA to reduce hyperkeratosis, to increase the skin hydratation and to promote the pénétration of active substances, represents a vital advance in skin therapy.
The AHA essentialy act on corneocytary cohésion. They reduce the epidermal cells of the stratum corneum, by taking action on the ionic intercorneocytary bonds. They increase the water re
tention capacity in the stratum corneum, which softens the skin.
The AHA fulfil the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans (component of connective tissue) in keratinocytes (epidermis) and fibroblasts. Through their large affinity with water, they ensure the epidermis moisturising.
Indications
 Glycolic acid-based preparations can favourably influence the treatment of a certain number of skin disorders such as hyperpigmentation, dry and oily skin, UV rays damaged skin, ichtyose, keratinisation disorders with hyperkeratosis, acne (vulgaris), xerosis and skin aging.
A daily use of glycolic acid solutions has a strong effect on the skin beauty. It acts on the elasticity and the moisturizing of the skin, it removes squames and xerosis and it efficiently helps diminishing or removing wrinkles. Those glycolic acid solutions are particularly interesting and adapted for long-term treatments.

Euromi has developed a complete range of cosmetics based on that principle: the GLY KO LINE® range.
 In the Gly Ko Line® range, the chosen formulation is recognised as the most effective in the sense that it restores the balance between concentration and pH. Gly Ko Line products contain large concentration of glycolic acid with a high pH value. This formulation has been based on the principle, according to which the potential irritation of glycolic acid is much more dependent on a low pH than on its high concentration. Given that the skin pH varies between 4.2 and 5.6, the cosmetic formulation containing free acids, with a low pH of 1.2, can be extremely irritating to the skin, even at a low concentration. These free acids can even damage the epidermis as a result of their corrosive nature. The higher the pH value, the less the risk of irritation is considerable.
Instead of limiting the glycolic acid concentrations in the formulations of free acids, we have buffered the acid, which allows use of the highest glycolic acid concentrations with, as a result, an increase in effectiveness without irritation.
The glycolic acid can be used on any type of skin: dry, oily, normal and sensitive.
